Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

From Wikipedia:

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is a 2008 fantasy adventure film, based on the novel by J. K. Rowling. It is the sixth film in the popular Harry Potter films series. Production is in the post-production stage. David Yates, the director of the fifth film, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, is returning as director for this film. David Heyman and David Barron are producing the film,[1] and Steve Kloves, though he did not write the fifth film, has returned as screenwriter for this instalment.[2] Filming began on September 24, 2007 and the film is scheduled for a UK and US release on November 21, 2008, South Africa on December 5, 2008, and an Australian release on December 11, 2008.[3][2] Like the previous film, the sixth film will be simultaneously released in regular theatres and IMAX 3-D.[4] Editing of the movie has been completed and studio officials will soon see the finished product.[5] The film has been chosen to be screened at this year's Royal Film Performance on 17 November 2008.[6]

Filming

Filming began on September 24, 2007; with one week of rehearsals, and principal photography ended in May 2008.[3] Before filming commenced, there was belief that filming may move from the UK, where all of the previous five films have been shot. This is North Scotland reported filming will take place in New Zealand, due to the "more agreeable economy and climate" and lack of Scottish funding.[16] The Sunday Business Post in Ireland noted that the film's producers and WB executives had been scouting there, specifically Leinster and Munster because they "believe they have now exhausted possible locations in Britain." They are "particularly keen on Ireland, as the landscape is similar to Britain and will appear similar to the settings of the previous films."[17] The crew also scouted around Cape Wrath in Scotland, for use in the cave scene.[18] Filming is scheduled to return to Glen Coe and Glenfinnan, both locations that have appeared in the previous films, to preserve the continuity of the landscape.[19]

On the weekend of 6 October 2007, the crew shot scenes involving the Hogwarts Express in the misty and dewy environment of Fort William, Scotland.[19] A series of night scenes have been filmed in the village of Lacock and the cloisters at Lacock Abbey for three nights starting 25 October 2007. Filming took place from 5 p.m. to 5 a.m. daily, and residents of the street were asked to black out their windows with dark blinds.[20][21][22] On set reports indicated that the main scene filmed was Harry and Dumbledore's visit to Slughorn's house.[22] Further filming took place in Surbiton railway station in October 2007,[23] Gloucester Cathedral, where the first and second films were shot, in February 2008,[24] and at the Millennium Bridge in London in March 2008.[25]

Though Radcliffe, Gambon and Broadbent started shooting in late September 2007, some other cast members started much later: Watson did not begin until December 2007, Rickman until January 2008, and Bonham Carter until February 2008.[26][27] Principal photography wrapped up on 17 May 2008.[28]

Zombie Strippers with Jenna Jameson

Every once in a while, a movie comes along that changes everything. This is not that movie... What Zombie strippers is, is a studio executive's dream come true: zombies, strippers, and porn stars. How could such a brilliant formula possibly go wrong?

For starters, it went direct to DVD and pay-per-view without a theatrical run. However, my guess is that it will do very well in those venues. Some of you may be thinking that we only posted this trailer for the large amount of traffic the keywords, Jenna Jameson, porn star, and Zombie Strippers would generate. Guilty as charged.

However, I have to admit, the trailer looks pretty amusing. It looks to be as much of a spoof on traditional Hollywood movies as it is a serious zombie movie. Either way, I've got good money that says there will be a Zombie Strippers 2 sooner than you can break a twenty dollar bill at a strip bar.

Shine a Light on IMAX!

Only two words are needed to describe this show: HELL YEAH!

I haven't seen it yet, but I'm so excited to see it on IMAX at Regal Pinnacle Turkey Creek. Imagine twelve cameras covering the Stones during a live performance, all directed by Marty Scorcese, now project it all on a massive screen with the best sound system in town. That's a recipe for good times.

"“Shine a Light” makes no attempt to explain the Stones or to tell their story. All it wants to do is to give you the best seat in the house and the best sound you could possibly hope for."

Quantum of Solace: Behind the Scenes

Yeah OK, I love James Bond movies. I was raised watching them. I've worked with lots of people who have made a good living making Bond movies. One day I can only dream of working on a Bond movie myself. Ahhh, the locations, the gadgets, the girls. Did I mention the girls?

Anyway, here's a pretty snazzy behind the scenes featurette from Reelz:

Quantum of Solace will arrive in theaters on November 7th. The film will be directed by Marc Forster of Stranger Than Fiction and The Kite Runner.

Speed Racer Trailer

Well, it's all over the blogosphere and frankly, we can't have our dedicated Knoxville Films readers left in the dark so here is the exclusive trailer that absolutely everybody has on their blog.

It's a new Wachowski movie and it features a star studded cast so chances are, you'll be seeing a LOT of marketing for this little film over the next few months. Nice to see the Wachowski's taking on a serious philosophical piece for a change.

Stats:

Born to race cars, Speed Racer is aggressive, instinctive and, most of all, fearless. His only real competition is the memory of the brother he idolized - the legendary Rex Racer, whose death in a race has left behind a legacy that Speed is driven to fulfill. Speed is loyal to the family racing business, led by his father, Pops Racer, the designer of Speed's thundering Mach 5.

When Speed turns down a lucrative and tempting offer from Royalton Industries, he not only infuriates the company's maniacal owner but uncovers a terrible secret - some of the biggest races are being fixed by a handful of ruthless moguls who manipulate the top drivers to boost profits. If Speed won't drive for Royalton, Royalton will see to it that the Mach 5 never crosses another finish line.

The only way for Speed to save his family's business and the sport he loves is to beat Royalton at his own game. With the support of his family and his loyal girlfriend, Trixie, Speed teams with his one-time rival - the mysterious Racer X - to win the race that had taken his brother's life: the death-defying, cross-country rally known as The Crucible.

From Wild About Movies:

"Coraline The Movie" tells the story of a young girl (voiced by Dakota Fanning) who unlocks a mysterious door in her new home, and enters into an adventure in a parallel reality. On the surface, this other world eerily mimics her own life - though much more fantastical. In it, "Coraline" encounters such off-kilter inhabitants as the morbidly funny Miss Forcible and Miss Spink (Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders), and a counterfeit mother (Teri Hatcher) - who attempts to keep her. Ultimately, "Coraline" must count on her resourcefulness, determination, and bravery to get back home.

Ian McShane voices the role of Mr. Bobinski, an irascible, beet-eating Russian giant who lives upstairs from "Coraline's" "home" in the parallel reality.

Sex and the City: The Movie

Promotional picture of the characters from Sex and the City: The Movie. Chris Noth (John 'Mr. Big', left) and Sarah Jessica Parker (Carrie Bradshaw, right).
Love them or hate them--they're back!

From Wikipedia:

A feature film based on Sex and the City, written and produced by Michael Patrick King, is in production. The film originally was slated for production near the end of the broadcast series run in 2004, but the movie deal fell through at that time. Multiple press reports at the time indicated a personal dispute between Parker and Cattrall, as well as Cattrall's refusal to sign a contract for the film at a pay scale considerably less than Parker's.

Michael Patrick King will write and direct, and the four lead actresses will return to reprise their roles, and Chris Noth has signed to reprise his role as "Mr. Big." In addition, Oscar-winner Jennifer Hudson will appear in the film as Carrie's assistant. New Line Cinema will be distributing the film, and New Line president of production Toby Emmerich, Richard Brenner and Kathy Busby are overseeing the project. Parker and John Melfi are producing. Filming started on September 19, 2007 in New York City.

The plot of the film, it was also announced, revolves around the lives of the four main characters, four years after the time frame of the finale of the HBO series.

Evan Handler, David Eigenberg, Jason Lewis, and Willie Garson will all reprise their roles.

Filming of the Sex and the City movie was completed early December 2007.

The film will be released May 30, 2008.
